hELLO, i'M JYOTS, AN ARTIST AND OUTREACH PRACTITIONER FROM NORTH LONDON.

I look for ways to visualise and hide certain memories through drawing. Some days, I draw with paint or ink as it depends on the project’s context and I firmly believe that drawing is versatile in representation. My practice is made up of a multitude of projects concerning the dialogue between the presence of stereotypes and the state of experience. Currently, my focus is on stereotypes within the British Indian community and the displacement of culture from a dual heritage stand point. I take inspiration from John Akomfrah’s work and his take on the relationship between fragility and context.  Using redaction as a medium, I like playing with the layering of images and the transparency of material. I am not subject to just one medium.
